Globidens Mosasaur Skull with Crushing Teeth, 66 cm β PD-GSK-0066
𦴠66 CM GLOBIDENS MOSASAUR SKULL
This distinctive 66 cm Globidens mosasaur skull is reported from the Sidi Chennane area of Moroccoβs Oulad Abdoun Basin. Its robust cranial form and rounded crushing teeth immediately distinguish it from mosasaurs possessing narrow, pointed dentition.
Globidens belonged to a specialized group of Late Cretaceous marine reptiles adapted to process resistant prey. Mosasaurs lived during the age of dinosaurs, but they were marine reptiles rather than dinosaurs.
