⭐ Remarkable Size and Association
Extending more than two metres, this fossil provides an exceptional view of the spinal anatomy of a large prehistoric marine reptile. The repetition and substantial proportions of the 16 vertebrae create a visually powerful natural-history display.
Most mosasaur vertebrae are encountered and offered individually. A long associated series from the same animal presents a far more complete and impressive anatomical record.
🌊 About Prognathodon
Prognathodon belonged to the mosasaurs, a group of large marine reptiles that inhabited ancient seas during the Late Cretaceous. Mosasaurs were not dinosaurs. Their elongated bodies were supported by a strong vertebral column that provided stability and movement while swimming.
🪨 Preserved in Matrix
The geological matrix retains the vertebrae in a cohesive natural presentation while highlighting their size, sequence and fossilized surfaces. Natural mineral coloration, cracks, texture and incomplete areas remain part of the specimen’s geological character.
