⭐ An Exceptional Associated Fossil

Extending seven and a half feet, this impressive sequence reveals the immense scale of the mosasaur’s spinal anatomy. The regular succession of 16 large vertebrae creates a powerful display that is entirely different from an isolated vertebra.

Its association with one individual, original matrix presentation and absence of repair or restoration make this a particularly important collector specimen.

🌊 Anatomy of a Cretaceous Marine Predator

Prognathodon was a large mosasaur that inhabited ancient marine environments during the Late Cretaceous. Mosasaurs were powerful marine reptiles rather than dinosaurs.

The vertebral column supported the animal’s elongated body and transferred movement toward the tail during swimming. This extensive fossil series provides an impressive view of that essential anatomy.

🪨 Preserved in Geological Matrix

The surrounding matrix holds the vertebrae together as a cohesive natural-history display. Mineral coloration, fossil surfaces, natural cracks and geological textures remain visible throughout the specimen.
